Research Awards & Funding Opportunities for Undergraduate Students
A. External funding opportunities:
Undergraduate: CIHR Health Professional Student Research Award
The Faculty of Graduate Studies applies to CIHR for vouchers that are used to create stipends for undergraduate and graduate students. Eligible students will be from University of Windsor health programs that lead to licensure, namely (1) Nursing (BScN, MSc, MN, Nurse Practitioner programs); (2) Social Work (BSW, MSW, Phd); or the PhD in Clinical Psychology program. Mitacs Globalink Research Internship
Provides Canadian summer research internships to top-notch undergraduates (entering their fourth year) from several countries overseas. Faculty pitch research positions to Mitacs, who recruits students on their behalf. Contact Jillian Hatnean, UWindsor’s Mitacs rep, for more information.
Mitacs Globalink Research Award
Canadian senior undergrads (or graduate students) undertake an approved 12-24 week research project in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Turkey or Vietnam, jointly supervised by Canadian professors and their international collaborators at an accredited university. NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award
The Brain Tumour Research Studentship program
The Brain Tumour Research Studentship program has been developed to accelerate brain tumour research and encourage new, young researchers to join the field. This program offers $10,000 research opportunities for first, second or third-year undergraduate science students pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Science degree. Research studentships offer funding for two summers of research work.
TalentEdge Internship Program (TIP)
Provides support for current college and university students (senior undergraduate, graduate and PhD), and recent graduates, with the exception of PhD graduates, to work on collaborative industry-driven projects.
