The Polish ambassador to Canada made several campus stops during his first visit to Windsor, March 24 to 28.

Andrzej Kurnicki took up his post in September after a career that includes stints in business and academe; he earned a doctorate in economics from Warsaw University in 2011.

He was welcomed Monday at the Odette School of Business, where he addressed students, and visited the Leddy Library for a meeting with University Librarian Pascal Calarco. On Tuesday, he met with UWindsor president Alan Wildeman and other officials before touring the Cross-Border Institute.

Friends and co-workers of Leddy Library retiree Marjorie Stephens, who died March 18, have launched a campaign to solicit donations to dedicate a campus bench in her memory.

Stephens worked 45 years at the University of Windsor in a variety of positions at the library until her retirement in 2015. The planned tribute is a wrought-iron bench with a plaque bearing her name and years of service.

Entitled “Empowering new knowledge,” the event will run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Neal Education Building.

Mohsan Beg, director of the Student Counselling Centre, will deliver a keynote address on the subject of “Mental Health and Wellness: Challenges Faced by Graduate Students,” at 8:30 a.m. in the Education Building’s room 1121. This opening lecture is free and open to the campus community.
